- In a tit-for-tat move after the Pahalgam terror attack, India has closed its airspace to Pakistani aircraft until May 24, as per a new NOTAM. The ban applies to all Pakistan-registered planes, including military and commercial operators. This follows Pakistan’s April 24 closure of its skies to Indian airlines, affecting over 800 west bound flights weekly. Indian carriers are now rerouting via longer paths to West Asia, Europe, and North America leading to higher fuel costs and crew challenges. Some Air India long-haul flights to the US are even making technical stops in Europe, disrupting regular non-stop services.
